Useful Resources

Find below some websites and resources which I found useful on my epilepsy journey and throughout pregnancy.

Women with epilepsy website

This resource is amazing and has been developed by Kim Morley, an epilepsy specialist nurse/midwife from her experience of supporting women with epilepsy & healthcare professionals over the last 17 years. You can also get in touch with her via email kim.morley@nhs.net

Epilepsy and pregnancy diaries

These diaries were written in 2012 by mums with epilepsy and Epilepsy Action and include my story with Riley. Lots of mums-to-be have found them really helpful and reassuring.

Epilepsy birth plan

Written by Kim Morley this pack is amazing and has information and fact sheets you can give to obstetricians, midwives, GPs and nurses. It also includes a sheet for you to fill in and put at the front of your pregnancy notes.

UK epilepsy and pregnancy register

Register your pregnancy with the UK pregnancy and epilepsy register to ensure women in the future have the best information available to them when making decisions on choosing epilepsy treatment during pregnancy.

You can also contact them for up to date figures on the safety of different medications and combinations in pregnancy.

Epilepsy Action – Epilepsy and having a baby information

This information is for you if you have epilepsy and are pregnant now, or might be in the future. It covers things like planning a baby and getting pregnant.

It also includes information about epilepsy medicines and pregnancy, breastfeeding, looking after a baby or young child, inheritance and contraception

Women with epilepsy Facebook Page

A group for women with epilepsy set up by epilepsy specialist Kim Morley. It has been designed to bring women together for friendship, networking and support. Please note this is a women’s only group.
